Privacy Notice
This notice describes what Boston Sense LLC collects through bostonsense.com, why we collect it, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices available to you. It covers this website only.
Who we are
Boston Sense LLC, Boston, Massachusetts. For any question about this notice or your information, contact connect@bostonsense.com. We are the controller of the information described here.
What we collect
Information you give us
Our contact and estimate forms ask for your name, email address, and a description of what you are working on; the contact form also offers an optional phone number if you ask to be called. The careers form asks for your name, email address, an area of interest, an optional LinkedIn or portfolio link, and a short note. The updates signup asks only for an email address. Each submission also records which page it came from.
Please do not send passwords, credentials, confidential datasets, health information or other regulated personal information through these forms.
Information collected automatically
If you allow analytics, Google Analytics 4 collects usage data including a randomly generated device identifier stored in a cookie, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, referring site, and general device and browser characteristics. IP anonymisation is enabled, Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled, and no advertising or remarketing features are used.
Our hosting provider processes standard server and request logs, including IP address, as a normal part of serving the site.
Cookies and similar technologies
| Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| cc_cookie | Strictly necessary | Records your cookie choices so we do not ask again. | 6 months |
| bs_intro_seen | Strictly necessary | Records that you have already seen the site introduction. Contains no identifier. | 12 months |
| _ga, _ga_<id> | Analytics, optional | Google Analytics device identifier and session state. Set only after you accept analytics. | Up to 2 years |
Analytics does not load at all until you accept it. Declining means no Google Analytics script is requested and no analytics cookie is set.
Why we use it, and on what basis
- To respond to you. Form submissions are used to answer your enquiry or application. Where the GDPR applies, the basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, or steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
- To send updates. Only if you sign up. Where the GDPR applies, the basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To understand how the site is used. Analytics, on the basis of your consent.
- To keep the site working and secure. Strictly necessary storage and server logs, on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the site.
We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising or profiling.
Who processes it for us
- Formspree receives and forwards form submissions.
- Vercel hosts the site and processes server logs.
- Google Analytics processes usage data, only with your consent.
- Calendly is used if you book a meeting. That happens on Calendly’s own site under its own privacy notice.
These providers act on our instructions. We may also disclose information where legally required.
International transfers
We operate from the United States and our providers may process information there and elsewhere. Where information is transferred from the UK, EEA or Switzerland, we rely on our providers’ transfer mechanisms, which for the providers above are typically the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Enquiry and careers correspondence is kept for up to 24 months from our last exchange, unless an ongoing relationship requires longer. Updates signups are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Cookie lifetimes are in the table above.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, form submissions are encrypted in transit, and access to correspondence is limited to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, which is why we ask you not to send sensitive information through these forms.
Your choices and rights
You can change your cookie choices at any time using the button above, unsubscribe from updates using the link in any message, or email us to ask what we hold.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port or restrict your personal information, to object to certain processing, to withdraw consent, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. To exercise any of these, email connect@bostonsense.com. We will verify your request and respond within the period required by applicable law. If you are in the UK or EEA you may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Children
This site is intended for business users. It is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
Sense Factory tools
Sense Factory projects such as IntentDB, Reclaim, RtBt and Problems.school are separate from this website. Where one handles data differently, it carries its own notice, and that notice governs your use of it.

We will update this notice when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be signalled on the site.
